What was the reason for choosing RheinAhrCampus from so many options which Tbilisi State University gives to its students?
My interest was drawn towards RheinAhrCampus for a variety of reasons. First of all, its educational system was absolutely acceptable for me. I liked its diversity in terms of the courses related with business and financial field, as well as its qualified academic personnel and university environment. The fact that I have already studied in Germany and have learned basics of German language played the main role and so defined my choice. Secondly, as the university assembles people of various nationalities, I would be given a chance to communicate with youngsters from different cultural and social backgrounds and develop cultural competence. So, its international status was one of the major factors.
What were the main benefits you gained from spending a semester in RheinAhrCampus?
I experienced different teaching techniques that I was not familiar with before. I learned how to deal with difficulties by myself, so I became more independent in this field. I practiced my English a lot alongside other exchange students and I can say that my language competence is much higher now. Last but not least here I met great people from all over the world and made many really good friends.
Is this influence of studying abroad still helping you to lead your life in a better way?
Studying abroad had a huge influence on my life. I became more independent and confident. Now I’m not afraid to try out new things and face challenges without any hesitation. It created a good background for me to be ready for future journeys.
What are the top 5 things, which you miss from studying abroad?
In the first place, I would say that I will miss my friends here in RheinAhrCampus, we came through this journey together and it will be really difficult for me to say goodbye to them. Then I will miss some of the courses here that were really interesting as I would never be given a chance to study something similar at my home university since it is not that diverse. I will miss parties, Mensa food and more importantly Germany, the country itself.
What do you think, how studying in RheinAhrCampus will help you in your future career/studies?
Studying here in RheinAhrCampus gives me an advantage over other students from my home country as it is more prestigious to take such a high-quality education, especially in Germany. This university helped me to realize the best of my abilities and it also provided me with valuable theoretical and practical knowledge in terms of academic as well as personal development.
What are the things which you would change if you had the opportunity?
I would increase the diversity of countries represented by exchange student and I would raise the number of those students to make RheinAhrCampus even more international.
What can you say about the differences between students’ life in Germany and Georgia?
I would say that there is a huge difference between those two. In Georgia teaching process during courses is dominated by the lecturer, in contrast in Germany students are ones who are talking during the seminar and their opinion is much more valuable. In Georgia student’s life is really boring, since there are no barbeque parties or other exciting elements of university lifestyle which is really common in Germany.
What recommendations do you have for the students who have a willingness to study in RheinAhrCampus?
Don’t lose your time, this is your chance to start changes. Try out new things. This is the place to make mistakes and become better. Find an ideal balance between studying and having fun outside the Campus. Experience as much of these new opportunities as possible. And remember that at the end of the program you won't regret things that you have done here but things that you had a chance to do but you didn’t.
